A Clearer Picture of What is Happening and What Could Help

Relationship distress is rarely caused by one person. More often, couples become caught in patterns that neither partner intended to create.

The assessment explores areas such as:

  • Communication and conflict patterns

  • Emotional connection and responsiveness

  • Trust, safety, and relationship security

  • Friendship, affection, and appreciation

  • Individual histories that may affect the relationship

  • Stress, parenting, work, and lifestyle pressures

  • Shared values, expectations, and future goals

  • Each partner’s hopes for counselling

  • Existing strengths that can support change

The goal is not to decide who is right or wrong. It is to help both partners understand the cycle they are experiencing and leave with a practical direction forward.

The benefits of Couple-to-Couple support may include:

  • Two complementary perspectives, creating balanced environment in which both people can feel heard and understood

  • Greater insight into how different partners may experience the same interaction

  • Practical examples of healthy communication and repair

  • Honest, grounded discussion about the work involved in sustaining a relationship

  • A bridge between clinical insight and everyday application

This package may be helpful if you:

  • Keep returning to the same unresolved disagreements

  • Feel disconnected but aren’t sure why

  • Want a thorough assessment and plan before committing to ongoing counselling

  • Would like clearer goals and recommendations

  • Want to strengthen an already stable relationship

  • Value both professional guidance and practical relationship perspectives

  • Have tried to make changes but struggle to sustain them

  • Are ready to hear direct and honest feedback, even if it challenges you

Elements of the Couple’s Assessment Package

Both partners deserve to feel respected. The assessment is not designed to assign blame, prove one person’s version of events or pressure either partner into staying in the relationship.

Before beginning, we will review informed consent, confidentiality, the role of each facilitator and the limits of the service. We will also complete an initial suitability screening. Some circumstances require a different type or level of support, and appropriate referrals will be provided when this package is not a safe or clinically suitable fit.

This service is not a legal, parenting-capacity, custody or forensic assessment. Participation does not guarantee that ongoing couples counselling will be recommended.

The Comprehensive Couples Assessment includes:

  • One 80-minute joint intake with both facilitators

  • Two 40-minute individual assessment meetings (one with each facilitator)

  • Structured relationship questionnaires

  • A personalized relationship roadmap

  • One 50-minute feedback and planning session

Package investment: $795

Payment may be divided into 3 instalments of $265. Extended health reimbursement depends on your individual plan. Receipts will accurately identify which services were provided by the Registered Clinical Counsellor; non-clinical services may not qualify for reimbursement.

Meet Your Support Team

Molly McBride

Molly is a Registered Clinical Counsellor who supports individuals and couples in understanding the experiences and patterns shaping their lives. Her approach draws from Relational Life Therapy, the Gottman Method, Attachment-based Theory, and Internal Family Systems Therapy, and emphasizes nervous-system regulation, self-understanding, and mind-body change.

Molly is responsible for the clinical aspects of the assessment, therapeutic work, documentation, and recommendations included in this package.

Dave McBride

Dave joins the couple-to-couple portion of the assessment as a non-clinical facilitator and educator with training in Relationship and Life Coaching. Drawing on a vast array of lived experience, fine-tuned communication skills and an innate aptitude for pattern recognition, he helps couples consider how relationship insights can be applied in everyday life.

Dave does not provide psychotherapy or counselling, but offers a direct, relatable perspective. His approachable style can offer a comfortable entry point for partners who are less accustomed to discussing relationships in a counselling setting, helping both people feel understood and engaged in the process.
