Walk & Talk Counselling in Chilliwack

Not everyone feels most comfortable talking while sitting face-to-face in an office.

Walk & Talk counselling takes the conversation outdoors, allowing you and your counsellor to walk side-by-side at a comfortable pace while you talk.

For some people, movement and being outside can make counselling feel more natural and less formal. Walk & Talk sessions are available at select outdoor locations in the Chilliwack area.

What is Walk & Talk counselling?

Walk & Talk counselling is an in-person counselling session that takes place outdoors while you and your counsellor walk together.

It is still a counselling session, just in a different setting.

Rather than sitting across from one another, you walk side-by-side and talk at a pace that feels comfortable for you. The session can include the same kinds of conversations and therapeutic work you might explore in a more traditional counselling setting.

What can we talk about during a Walk & Talk session?

Walk & Talk is a format for counselling rather than a separate type of therapy. Depending on your needs and whether the format is appropriate for you, sessions may include support for concerns such as:

  • anxiety and overthinking

  • burnout and stress

  • grief

  • life transitions

  • feeling stuck

  • identity changes

  • emotional overwhelm

  • nervous system dysregulation

You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to talk about. Your counsellor can help you explore what is coming up and what you would like support with.

Why choose counselling outdoors?

There is no single counselling environment that works for everyone. Walk & Talk counselling may appeal to you if sitting in an office feels uncomfortable, you spend much of your day behind a screen, or you simply find it easier to talk while moving.

You might prefer Walk & Talk counselling if you:

  • feel restless or uncomfortable sitting through a full session

  • find conversation easier when you are moving

  • enjoy spending time outdoors

  • want an alternative to another appointment on a screen

  • feel more at ease talking side-by-side rather than face-to-face

  • are looking for a more active counselling experience

What happens during a Walk & Talk session?

Before your first session, you and your counsellor will discuss the available location options and anything that may affect your comfort, mobility or privacy while walking.

During the session, you will walk together at a pace that works for you. This is not a workout or fitness session. The focus remains on the counselling conversation.
